Many thanks to the officers and committee for the invitation to judge Border Terriers at the East of England Agricultural Society Show, which was to be the last one run by this society. It was a super venue with lovely big rings which gave the dogs a chance to stride out. Many thanks to my ring stewards Peter and Lesley Armstrong for keeping things running smoothly and efficiently. I was delighted with my entry of 109 dogs making a total entry of 149 and pleased with the overall quality of dogs shown. Thank you to the exhibitors for giving the chance to go over your dogs and for the sporting way the placings were taken. It is indeed a privilege to have the opportunity do so. I was thrilled to be able to watch the terrier group and see my BOB – Stineval Lambert JW take group 1 in a quality line up. I also was delighted to hear that my BPIB – Glebeheath Ophelia went Group 3 in the Puppy Group.

A grizzle puppy with a super head. He is nicely made with a good harsh coat and loose pelt and good rear angulation. He was rather overexcited which made it difficult to assess his movement. He was more settled in the next class!

1st - Stineval Lambert JW (Mr A & Mrs C Horner)
A grizzle dog, presented in absolutely tip top condition. He has a super head with a moderately flat skull and little stop and dark eyes giving that keen expression so typical of the breed. He has a strong muzzle and jaw with big teeth, which I found lacking in a lot of exhibits today. He is so very well balanced and stood on straight legs with the tightest of feet and is narrow throughout. He has a good reach of neck which flows into a level topline and short thick tail well set on. The coat was the best of the day – harsh, tweedy texture with a pliable thick pelt. He was well angulated with good turn of stifle and well muscled. He strode out round the ring with purpose on a loose lead and really was enjoying himself. I was pleased to award him the DCC and BOB. I was delighted to watch him in the terrier group and see him move out effortlessly at one with his handler.
2nd - Benattivo Charlie Brown (Mrs S J & Mr C P Girling)
Another grizzle dog that was really well presented. He has really good head with flat skull with strong muzzle, neat ears and a keen expression . Slightly smaller in size to my winner but has many of the same qualities and is well balanced. Shown in good double coat with good topline and a lovely short carroty tail. Moved well.

I was pleased to get my hands on this well known champion grizzle dog having admired him from the ringside. He did not disappoint. He has a typey head, with and keen expression. He is a handy size standing on straight legs and narrow throughout. He has a good reach of neck which flows into a level topline and tail set. He has a lovely balanced outline and is a real showman in the ring. He was shown in good double coat. He moved well but not with the same drive as my DCC winner today but worthy of the RDCC.
2nd - The Joker Let's Rock and Roll to Fevstone (Mrs D Bullen)
A grizzle dog with a good masculine head, slightly longer in foreface but has a strong muzzle and big teeth. He is up on the leg and longer in body than 1, but easily spanned. Shown in a good harsh coat with pliable pelt. He has a nice topline and tail set and good rear angulation. Moved with drive.
