I would like to thank the committee of the Scottish BTC for their warm welcome and hospitality. Thank you also to my ring stewards Joyce Orr and Helen McKenzie for keeping things running smoothly. I am grateful to those exhibitors who braved the weather to attend the show. All the dogs were entire and mouths were very good. Coats were on the whole just on their way in which I expected just before the coming show season. A number of exhibits were carrying rather too much condition for a fit functional terrier.

1st - Joncroft Mosstrooper (M Johnston)
Nice sized light grizzle and tan dog. Nice head without being overdone with a good bite and flat skull. Very good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. Straight front legs and small feet. Well shaped ribs, length of body and very easily spanned. Evidence of a harsh topcoat coming in and excellent pelt. Good topline and underline with well set on short tail. Very balanced on the move was pleased to award him BPIS
2nd - Lexmar Father To Son (Miss D Perry)
Rather bigger grizzle and tan dog. Just coming into coat but good thick undercoat and pelt. Strong head with a very good bite. Nice for bone and well padded feet. Good topline and thick tail. Lovely hind angulation with good width of second thigh.

1st - Carrickfarm Micky (Mrs R E & Mr N H Joy)
Typey grizzle and tan dog. Lovely head and expression with strong short muzzle, flat skull and well set ears. Well laid shoulder and ribbed well back. Good topline and underline and thick tail. Standing on thickly padded feet. Top coat just coming in but in a thick undercoat and pelt. Although up to size, his bone, angulations and length were all in proportion. He moved better in the challenge than in the class where his strong well let down hocks propelled him round the ring with ease. RBD

2nd - Iacheslei Cantare to Cundytyke (Mr & Mrs Shorthose)
Upstanding grizzle and tan dog in a correct harsh double coat. Very good head, with flat skull, well set ears, strong muzzle and excellent bite with huge teeth. Nice bone and excellent feet. Ribbed well back, deep and narrow but would prefer a little more length right through. Racy hindquarters, he is very sound and true on the move.

1st - Fehmarn Highland Encounter (Mrs E J Scott)
Richly coloured grizzle and tan. Just right for size and just enough bone. Nice head with short strong muzzle and good bite. Moderately broad in skull and lovely small well set V shaped ears. Well ribbed back and very easily spanned. Good shoulders and although I would have preferred slightly more angulation front and back, he was very balanced both free standing and on the move. Shown to perfection in a correct double coat with thick pelt, I loved the fact that he was not overdone in any way. BD and RBIS
2nd - Braemen's Lucas (Mr A & Mrs J Wilson)
Light grizzle and tan shown in a tight undercoat with evidence of a harsh topcoat just to say coming. Typical head and expression with a lovely dark eye, very little stop and good teeth. Lovely neck into well laid shoulders. Straight front legs that are just right for bone. Deep and narrow throughout and easily spanned. Racey hindquarters with well let down hocks. He moved very true coming and going.

1st - Earthwise Follow Me (Mr E J Houston)
Dark grizzle and tan dog 7 ½ years young. Old fashioned type of head with lovely dark eye, hardly any stop and strong jaw with enough length of muzzle to house a good set of big teeth. Good shoulders and length of upper arm. Just right for bone and narrow throughout. Standing on well padded small feet. Although deceptively he looks up to size, he has lovely V shaped ribs making him easy to span with no heaviness. Excellent topline and tail set. Hindquarters are just angulated enough to balance his front. Impressive on the move, really covering the ground with great economical action both front and behind. BV

1st - Lexmar Mercury Midas Touch (Mr & Mrs Hayes)
Nice typey grizzle and tan. Feminine but workmanlike head with very good bite. Lovely bone right through her pasterns to her good feet. Good ribs and strength of loin and easily spanned. Lovely short thick tail. Coat just coming in but in a good undercoat and thick pliable pelt. Excellent rear angulation with strong well let down hocks. Very balanced and true on the move, I think she has a bright future.
2nd - Joncroft Timorous Beastie (M Johnston)
Litter sister to my Puppy Dog winner and of the same make and shape. Good bite and sweet head which needs time to mature. Well laid shoulders with good angulations front and back. Nice shaped ribs and narrow throughout. Very balanced and free moving keeping a good topline.

1st - Merumhor Suzy Snowflake of Lexmar (Mrs A & Mr M Hayes)
Lovely coloured blue and tan bitch I have judged before and today she just shone. Nice head and expression with strong muzzle and good bite. Just right for bone and loved her balanced outline. Well ribbed back with good topline and underline and easily spanned. Correct rear angulation with no exaggeration. Shown in a tight double coat which was in superb condition. Moved well coming and going, balanced and presenting a lovely picture in profile. I had no hesitation in awarding her BB and BIS
2nd - Merumhor Misguided Angel (Mr C & Mrs J Martin)
Light grizzle and tan rangy bitch. Lovely head with excellent teeth, strong muzzle, little stop and correct flat moderately broad skull. Good neck into well laid shoulders. Nice for size and bone and narrow throughout standing on well padded feet. Good shape of rib, good topline and tailset. The harshest of topcoats just coming through her thick undercoat. Nicely angulated racy hindquarters. Moved very true. RBB

1st - Bramblebee Squiglet (Miss E Clements)
A very typical dark grizzle and tan bitch. Workmanlike head and expression with good bite, strong muzzle, and liked the shape of her skull. Although not the best mover on the day, I loved her excellent neck and clean well laid shoulders and good length and shape of rib. Harsh coat just coming in through a very thick undercoat and the thickest of pelts.
2nd - Remony Winter's Diamond JW (Mrs A E Gregory)
A smaller and more compact light grizzle and tan bitch. Short strong muzzle with a good bite, dark eye and broad flat skull. Standing on lovely small feet and just right for bone. Shown in a tight double coat with an excellent thick undercoat and pelt. Short thick tail and well angulated hind quarters. Very true on the move and immaculately presented.

1st - Tythrop High Time (Miss C M Gittens)
Dark grizzle and tan bitch with a good bite and lovely shaped dark eye and well set ears. Good neck and clean well laid shoulders and lovely return of upper arm. Ribbed well back with a strong loin. Good for bone and standing on very well padded feet. Lovely hind angulation which balances her front nicely. Short well set tail and in the most fabulous dense pin-wire topcoat with the thickest of undercoats and oodles of thick pliable pelt. A little erratic on the move but true when settled. Just carrying rather too much condition today.

1st - Holmston Fairtrader For Flutorum (Castel, Euan & Jean)
Richly coloured grizzle and tan dog. Lovely head with a kind expression and strong muzzle. Small, neat V shaped ears and nicely shaped skull. Good neck into very well laid shoulders. Neat small feet and although up to size, he is not too heavy in bone. Shown in a good double coat with thick pelt. Well ribbed back, with a good topline and underline. Very good hind angulation with no exaggeration and the length of bones front and back giving him real freedom of movement. It was lovely to see such soundness in a dog of 11 years.
2nd - Dugaden Tusker ShCM (Martin, Joyce)
Blue and tan dog 9 years old and still has an excellent bite with huge teeth. Strong head with a dark eye. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. Straight front legs with plenty of bone running right through to his excellent well padded feet. Good topcoat and very thick pelt. Moved well coming and going but a little stiff behind in profile.

Johnston’s Brace, A dog and bitch, litter brother and sister puppies. Both very sound and free moving in unison. A well matched pair.
