Thank you to the committee for this appointment, everyone worked hard to make it an enjoyable day. This venue always has a super atmosphere, however, the ring is too small really to see outlines, being far too near the dogs and side profile movement is very difficult to see, let alone for the dogs to perform really well. Many moved poorly, not liking the smooth mats and although I had to judge them on this today, I think most would move much better outside in a big grass ring.

Smart young grizzle with a lovely head, eye and ear. Strong muzzle and jaw with big teeth. Good front, topline and tailset, enough bone for his size and has a good shape rib that is well back into his loin. Moved and showed well.

Another nice headed grizzle, longer and leggier than 1 at present, but this will be to his advantage later on. Narrow all through with good rib, coat and pelt. Very much a baby at present but a workmanlike shape

1st - Ravenside Play The Game Kersfell (Mrs M Sneddon)
Ideal sized dark grizzle who is a handful at times but his handler made the most of him. Good head with keen eye and correct for proportions with his strong muzzle and good length skull. Well made, narrow all through, very easy span, well ribbed back to strong loin and well set tail, correctly carried. Moved well in all directions when settled, just losing out for the top spot later on, for coat and condition, but a real nit pick here. Very promising, BPD
2nd - Bluebabel Border Song (Mr K P & Mrs N B Yates)
lovely headed dog of good size and type, coat and pelt. Dark eye, well set and big teeth in a strong jaw. Not quite the overall conformation of 1 hence he couldn’t match him on the move but still a nice border who was well presented.

very nice paler coloured grizzle of lovely size and very much my type of border. Well proportioned head with dark eye, big teeth set on a decent neck and very light framed body, that was easily spanned. . Good coat and pelt with racy hind quarters and well set tail, just needs to get himself under control on the move, which is where he needs time to strengthen and lost out to one.

A lovely sized grizzle in good order. Masculine head with dark, expressive eye and neat ear. Medium neck, straight forelegs and spannable, fit body. A fraction wider coming on than 2 but coped better with the surface and gave a better account of himself side profile. Level topline and carrot tail completed the picture.
2nd - Ycart Just to Ground (Mr K K Fraser & Mrs T J Butler)
lovely narrow blue/tan of good size and balance, with good jacket and pelt. This surface didn’t suit him, along with many others. Straight forelegs, good bone and in lovely condition with well angulated rear quarters.

Some lovely dogs in this class.
1st - Cobstoneway Stand By Me JW (Mrs G Stevens)
Quality grizzle, who pushed hard for top honours, just preferred the expression of the dcc rdcc but nothing more than that, matching them both in every other respect. Nice head with lovely skull and strong foreface. Well made throughout with correct shape ribs back to his firm loin and well made rear. Lovely forehand, straight forelegs and neat feet, he was in super coat with thick pelt and grand condition and moved well.

Easily spanned body with good rib shape and strong loin Well muscled hind quarters and thickly rooted tail. Beautiful headed grizzle dog , handy size and has great type. Lovely expression from his dark eyes, neat ears and strong jaw with correct bite. Medium neck into fairly long body with good topline and underline. In crisp new coat, thick pelt and in super condition, carrying just the right amount of muscle. Looks keen and game for anything on the stand, which he does unaided, lovely to see. Accurate out and back and did enough on the go around to secure his win today, a dog to be proud of. DCC BIS

richly coloured grizzle in deep double coat of good texture with thick pelt. Super for size and type with a lovely feminine, typical head with strong jaw and good bite. Straight front, perhaps a shade wide coming on but has good bone and neat feet. Level topline to her easily spanned body and tail is well set and carried correctly, moved and showed well particularly on the go around. I liked her a lot.
2nd - Stineval Sasha (Mr A & Mrs C Horner)
Another feminine grizzle who is also a lovely size and could get anywhere. Not the depth of coat of one, but good texture and thick pelt. Good head, neat ears and short strong muzzle with correct bite. Enough length to her body, which is an easy span with level topline and carroty tail.

1st - Ycart Just Stood Baying (Mr K K Fraser & Mrs T J Butler)
Very nice blue/tan of perfect size for me, with narrow front and body which was well balanced. Excellent double coat and thick pelt covered a level topline and well set tail. Lovely straight forelegs, feet could be tighter but they’re deep with thick pads, don’t think the floor surface helped! Moved well and pushed very hard in the challenge, a little more maturity and finish in head should see her with a title.
2nd - Picer Mirabel Ostler (Mr G & Mrs S Pickering)
Blue/tan different stamp to one, being heavier boned and bodied. Strong head with powerful jaws, dark eyes and big teeth. Well made with balanced angles front and rear, lovely topline leading to carrot tail which was well set and carried correctly. In deep double coat, ok texture and thick pelt.

pleasing head on this blue/tan of good size, with neat ears and strong muzzle. Straight front, good bone and feet, which helped her out move the others.
2nd - Liatch Tenacious (Malcolm, Glen & Knowles)
grizzle youngster, bigger and longer cast than 1 in good coat and body condition with thick pelt. Her rear is well made but she didn’t cope with the floor and moved untidily behind. Good side profile and held a level topline but was somewhat switched off today, have seen her look better.

1st - Glenbucket Oor Wee Dotty (Mrs M J Alexander)
The more I looked at this grizzle, the more I liked her. Real border type with a properly proportioned head. Moderately broad skull and short, strong muzzle with no sign of coarseness. Good front, straight legs, neat feet well made throughout with no exaggerations. Well ribbed back with strong loin, level topline and carrot tail. She was in superb order with a fabulous thick, loose pelt and well presented double jacket of good texture. Went round well and moved true coming and going. BCC & BOS
2nd - Alcumlow Show And Tell At Riseburn (Miss C Tutin)
lighter grizzle longer cast than one but still balanced and well made throughout. Moderate neck and firm topline, in good coat and thick pelt. Didn’t cope with the floor as well as one and couldn’t quite match her in head and ear, just a different type that takes longer to reach its best. Has a good front, legs and feet.

2nd - Picer Bess Pool (Mr G & Mrs S Pickering)
A lovely typey grizzle in crisp tight coat, thick pelt and grand body condition. Lovely head, Broad skull and strong muzzle with big teeth. Straight front, well boned with good feet, she moved well but wasn’t really enjoying herself today and was very unlucky to meet one on such good form. Spannable body with level topline and well set tail, one of those that needs to be handled to be appreciated.

1st - Raedwulf Mata Hari JW (Mr M & Mrs V Atkinson)
grizzle of lovely size and easily spanned body. Just rises over the loin a little which spoilt her topline but is narrow with enough length and medium boned straight forelegs presented in short tight coat with good pelt. Has a strong head with dark eyes and powerful jaw. She moved well coming and going.
2nd - Gameway French Fancy Avec Orangebox (Mr M & Mrs T Anscombe)
Another nice sized grizzle with feminine head, dark eye and short strong muzzle. In good jacket and thick pelt with a balanced body and well set tail. Can just knuckle over in her enthusiasm to please, which cost her the class, but is so typey, she moved well and it was a close decision.

2nd - Mysulan Rhapsody In Blue (Mrs S J Baxter)
Very feminine blue/tan of finer build than one. Typical head, neat ear that could be more v shaped, but well set on. She too is easily spanned and is well made with lovely neck, front and topline with correctly set tail. Good texture to her coat with loose pelt, she was very well presented and in excellent body condition. Out moved another lovely exhibit that I much admired, but didn’t cope with the surface today.

grizzle, smaller package all round but has all the essentials and would get anywhere. Feminine head, a fraction longer in muzzle than my ideal but it’s strong with good bite. Skull is ottery with neat well set ear and dark eye. Medium neck into a very easily spanned body with best of coats that was well prepared covering a thick pelt. Lovely topline and short carroty tail which she uses well on the move, such a showgirl who will always catch the eye and was pushing all the way today.
2nd - CH Ravenside Marsha At Jordith JW (Mrs L.M.I & Mr A.M. Jordan-Smith)
Beautiful, ottery headed, light grizzle, with dark expressive eyes, neat ear and short strong muzzle. She was in short tight coat with thick pelt, but carrying far too much condition to work and this cost her today. Straight forelegs with neat feet and medium bone. Level topline and well set thickly rooted tail which she carries well on the move.
