My thanks to City of Birmingham for the invitation to judge and to the exhibitors who gave me such a good entry in both numbers and quality. Thank you also to my two hard working stewards who kept the ring running very smoothly. I found the limit and open classes in both dog and bitch had quality in depth and they were a pleasure to judge Thank You

1st - Baywillow Blueprint (Mrs G Hyslop & Mrs M Reeves)
Blue and Tan of nice type good head and expression with dark eye. Good jacket with thick pelt feet could be tidied to advantage. Well off for bone and doesn’t need to grow on much more. Difficult to assess movement as insisted on pacing but could move ok when he got into his stride. BPD

What a brilliant class some super dogs had to go down the line or go cardless some very close decisions
1st - Tythrop Timepiece (Mrs J L Lee)
Fabulous blue and tan the crispist of jackets on thick loose skin. Level topline held on the move. Tail bang on top correctly carried. Just right for size narrow & moved with real drive. Correct head proportions with good eye and neat ears. He has that indefinable extra really comes alive on the move. CC & BOB
2nd - Daluce King Of Emotion (Mr J & Mrs H M Thomas)
So unlucky to meet 1 today another in wonderful coat and condition not a hair out of place. Gorgeous head so full of breed type, topline, tail movement same remarks apply narrow and did not put a foot wrong just lacked the animation of the winner today RCC

Another very good class!
1st - Wadesleia Mr Herriot (Mrs H A & Mr A Fletcher)
Loved this dog on any other day he could easily have taken top award. Best of heads short strong muzzle with correct muzzle/head proportions a really good eye that gives just the right expression. Well presented in very good coat he moved very well covering the ground holding a good topline and tail just where it should be. In the final analysis just not quite as narrow as the ticket winners
2nd - CH Badgerbeck Uncle Fester (Miss L M Jenkins)
Another hair splitting decision very nice type in super thick double jacket has very good balance and moved true with drive as he would from his correctly angulated shoulder and quarters. Very well handled and showed beautifully he was slightly narrower that the winner but though has a very good attractive head for me he did not have quite the expression.

Wow! What a class they were all quality down to VHC and those that left the ring on another day I would have been very happy to place. Two blues bitches headed this class both had fabulous blue jackets with undercoat something I noticed lacking in some exhibits and both beautifully presented – newer exhibitors please note how the good ones are turned out.
1st - Emblehope Dance and Dance JW (Miss D Bladen)
Such a pretty unexaggerated bitch everything as it should be good movement, great topline, tail set on and carried correctly. The right size well sit within the weight range that many will not. Would like a tad more length in her rib but nit picking loved her head in the final analysis which tipped the balance over 2nd RCC
2nd - Tythrop Turn Back Time (Mrs J L Lee)
Another very good one sister to my BOB so hair splitting! Loved her turned out to the minute fab blue coat the right size very sound on the move showed with animation. Two lovely bitches just allowed my preference for head of 1st to tip balance.

1st - Benattivo Best Bet Karison (Miss K Johnson)
So many borders with clever handling can look good when stacked but on the move they go to pieces not so this bitch who is such an honest border terrier straight forward in head and so typical of the breed she came alive on the move which clinched her place for me she moves so soundly level topline tail bang on she looked a picture moving sound all ways. In full double coat not overdone in any department CC her 3rd I believe Well done
2nd - Comberdown Thistle (Mr I & Mrs A Higham)
Another quality blue and tan moved so well both ways with good topline and well set and carried tail her coat was harsh and dense and she had a prettier head than 1 was very deserving and considered her strongly for the RCC so unlucky to meet such strong competition today.
3rd - Cedarhill Wish Upon a Star JW (Mrs C Dean)

1st - Borderella Snap Dragon (Mr F & Mrs H Freeman)
A very nice bitch who is beautifully presented in good coat stood reserve in a very good post grad class of 13 present not disgraced in any way sound move and showed well. Could do with a little more fill under eye to complete picture.
2nd - Lady Fiona Mctarry (Miss A J Sutton & Mr M Sugden)
A very nice jacket on this blue and tan bitch but shorter rib with too much tuck up and not the movement of 1
