I would like to thank the exhibitors for a lovely quality entry, the Club and committee for the appointment and my stewards Simon and Bev Jackson for their efficient help throughout the day. I was generally pleased with the overall quality, heads were good, pelts generally good and movement OK with many very typical exhibits on show. I was disappointed to find a number of poor mouths in the dog entry and to find a few exhibits presented down to the minute but totally lacking muscle, something that I find unacceptable in a dog with the Borders outlook on life.

An excellent class headed by three absolutely lovely dogs.
1st - Grindelvald In Full Cry JW (Mrs M A Bailey)
This one was a very pleasant surprise, beautiful balance and great style. He has a lovely head with an excellent expression, well set ears, good for bone, neat feet, lovely front and shoulder, very well proportioned with good rib carried well back and a lovely set on tail. In beautiful coat and a good pelt moving out true with economy, everything about him just right today so pleased to award him Dog CC and BIS.
2nd - Hawcoat Blue Bertie (Mrs E J & Miss R C Larner)
A slightly heavier made dog with a lovely head, nice free moving but not quite the drive of 1, good for bone, well angulated and balanced with an excellent coat and pelt. He has great promise but in the challenge for the reserve CC he couldn?t match the elegant lines of the open dog.
3rd - Totherend Flash 'arry (Mr R G & Mrs E A Wright)
A good dog who was very unlucky to meet the first two in such good form. Rather strong in head with a good eye and a good jaw, Beautifully built he is absolutely and utterly sound on the move and wearing an excellent blue coat.

A disappointing class in comparison to the last one.
1st - Radnorvalley Goshawk of Rhozzum (Mrs M Sharp)

Nice type of dog with an excellent head, rather more heavily built than 1, OK for bone with nice tight feet and a good tail, decent on the move but rather short of coat today which cost him.

Quality dog of a good type. he has a lovely head, well balanced and good for bone, in excellent coat and though rather undisciplined on the move covered his ground excellently, unfortunately he is rather big and difficult to span.

A very good class where quality went all the way down, all of those that I placed, and a few more who were out of coat, could contend for top honours.
1st - Chase Me Kato At Thorpe (Mr & Mrs G Patchett)
Quite big but lean and narrow with a good head, good strong bite, good straight bone at the front, well angulated and beautifully presented in a very good coat. He moves out well and very very soundly, liked his tail & tailset. A very close contender for top honours today.
2nd - Otterbobs Riggindale JW (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin)
Smaller dog with an attractive head and expression but a tendency to fly his ears. Good angulations and neatly made but overall not as well balanced as 1. He is in a good harsh coat with a good pelt and OK for feet and moved out soundly. He was not showing as well as 1 which cost him here.
3rd - Iacheslei Torus JW (Miss A Harrison)
Very nice typical Border, good strong head, good muzzle, good eye. Good neck with correct angulations and a good tailset, overall he is very well balanced. Moving out very well, his coat was just about on the blow and he has not quite the pzazz.
