Firstly I would like to thank everyone who entered under me and gave me the pleasure of going over their dogs. I would also like to thank the committee for its hospitality and the lovely gift. I would also like to thank my excellent stewards Sharon and Peter who kept everything in order and the ring running smoothly.
Sadly there were many absentees but the show clashed with a number of other open shows with breed specialists judging around the country. I thoroughly enjoyed my day however being my first club show.
All males were entire and mouths were generally scissor bites with only one or two close bites and untidy teeth, a lot of dirty teeth but this is cosmetic and was not penalised. No kinked tails found and I was pleasantly surprised at the number of short tails, some however lacking thickness at the base. Coats as usual ranged from dogs in their undercoats to fully blown, some dogs would benefit from a good tidy up to enhance the presentation such as tails, ears, feet and underlines.
Some dogs movement was hard to assess due to them not settling in classes. Please don’t string dogs up on excessively tight leads one dog was not enjoying his experience for it both on the table and on the move.
Movement was generally ok but some lacked reach and drive with a couple moving wide or really close.

1st - Young Gun Ianto (Mrs L Hewitt)
BBPIS 5 month old youngster who was confident and showed himself well, I believe this was his and his owners first time in the ring. Otter head with a dark eye and good ear set. Teeth were not checked due to age and changing teeth. He had good angulation both rear and front with a good length of rib. He sported a harsh double coat but would benefit from some tidying up to help with presentation. He moved straight but a little close behind but easily forgiven at his age.

1st - Glebeheath Treacle (Mrs J Guvercin)
BPD BP A very smart grizzle puppy who has just turned 6 month, head is developing nicely with a dark eye and nice head proportions. His ears are well set and he has the correct scissor bite with good sized teeth for his age. His neck is a moderate length which flows into his level topline and pleasing tail set which is short and thick at the base. Good length of rib and I liked him for bone and size along with his straight front, well angulated shoulders and stifle. Thick pliable pelt and shown in a double jacket with good texture and depth. When settled he moved out well for such a young puppy. Well-presented and handled.

1st - Staynorwood Nightcap (Mr G & Mrs C Richardson)
RBD Grizzle dog who I really liked for size and construction. Underneath his full jacket is a well-constructed dog which you needed to get your hands on to appreciate today. He has an good head with a dark eye and small neat ears with shallow stop. He is well angulated in the shoulder, easily spanned and narrow throughout. I liked him for length of rib and his well angulated rear. He moved out well both ways. Sadly he really didn’t show himself to his advantage today and this cost him the top spot. I really hope his owners can find a way to bring out that show dog sparkle which I am sure would come with a very bright future.

Grizzle dog who has a beautiful otter head with a dark eye, small ears with a keen expression Correct scissor bite. He sported a double jacket with good texture and depth. He has plenty of bone whilst not being overdone. Pleasing topline, tail set and ribbed well back he spanned well. I really liked him in profile but wasn’t quite as accurate in front movement as the main winners today.

1st - Ravenside Sing Me A Song For Borderxpress (Mr R Wright)
BPB
.8 month old grizzle bitch who I liked for size. She has a feminine pretty head with a dark eye, neat ears that are well set. Correct scissor bite with well sized teeth. Narrow in front with correct shoulder placement. She was shown in a thick tweedy harsh jacket that has a good texture and depth. She needs to come up on her forehand but has time on her side. She moved the best in this class confidently around the ring.
2nd - Jackview Miss Dior (Miss E R Rogers)
7 month old grizzle, Otter head with a keen expression and dark eye, scissor bite. Narrow bodylines and ok in shoulder but would like a bit more rear angulation. She was shown in a double jacket which had good texture over her main body but some softer coat on head. Moved ok around the ring and well handled.

RBB Blue bitch just over a year old, A well balanced bitch with otter head which is still developing, she has a correct scissor bite. Her ears are slightly heavier than I would like but are well set and this will change with head development. She has a straight front sat on neat feet, well angulated shoulders and stifle, narrow throughout, excellent rib length and a very easy span. She holds her level topline on the move. Tail is slightly longer but is set on well. She moved out well and was one of the best movers of the day which secured her Reserve Best Bitch. Well shown and handled.

BPB First in Minor Puppy
2nd - Dassett Lady Macbeth Of Knowbury (Mr D & Mrs C Nightingale)
8 month old Grizzle who really did give her owner a hard time. I am sure she will settle in time with perseverance and patience. She made it very difficult to assess her on the table. She does have a scissor bite and is a nice size with good bone. She was shown today in her undercoat. In her initial class she did not settle on the move at all but she did in this class and she moved out well with reach and drive.

I liked this bitch for her size and balance. She has a keen expression, dark eye and correct scissor bite. She is well ribbed, narrow and well angulated rear, standing on neat feet with good bone. Shown in double jacket and was handled well. She did stand slightly wide at times but moved out ok.
2nd - Rundlebeck Little Dorrit (Mr B & Mrs C Manchester)
Slightly larger bitch than winner but well balanced with otter head and a dark eye. She was shown in a double jacket with decent pelt. Well ribbed, good topline and tail set. Moved out ok and could swap places with first on a different day

1st - Rundlebeck Mill On The Floss (Mr B & Mrs C Manchester)
Otter head with dark eye and correct detention. I would prefer a bit more length of neck but she did have a good topline and tailset. She was well angulated behind and stood on neat feet. Double jacket which was of good texture but a little more tidying up may benefit her overall appearance. She moved better out of the two in this class
2nd - Wreakevalley Flighty Miss (Mr P and Mrs K Oakman)
A grizzle bitch , dark eye correct ear set and strength of jaw , shallow stop and scissor bite. She was an easy span with a pliable pelt, shown in full jacket that is past its best but harsh in texture. Ribbed well back with a lovely short tail. Sadly she just did not settle on the move today which cost her the higher placing.

1st - Staynorwood Ramona (Mr G & Mrs C Richardson)
I liked this bitch for her size, she has a feminine otter head with correct scissor bite. She would benefit from her ears being tidied up. Harsh double jacket with a good pelt. She was well ribbed and spanned easily. She moved ok but would like to see a bit more reach.
2nd - Howthwaite Gertrude (Mr P Oakman)
Slightly bigger bitch than 1 who has a great show ring presence. She had a dark eye and strong jaw and scissor bite. She has a straight front and stood on good feet, but slightly down on her pasterns. I would like a to see more rib length on her. Her jacket was of good texture but is starting to go over but a thick and pliable pelt. She moved out well

1st - CH Ravenside Marsha At Jordith JW (Mrs L.M.I & Mr A.M. Jordan-Smith)
BIS BB BV 7 year old bitch who is quality throughout. She has a beautiful otter head with a correct scissor bite, dark eye and a keen expression. Correct shoulder construction with a pleasing topline and tail set. Easily spanned and well ribbed. She was messing around on the move today in this class but in the challenge, she moved out with reach and drive which secured her top honours. Presented and shown well.
2nd - Alcumlow Portobello Road (Mr P, Mrs B & Miss R Barber)
Another 7 year old who is a taller bitch than winner. She has a feminine head, slightly longer in the muzzle than winner with a scissor bite. I would prefer a slightly smaller ear. She has well-made shoulders on narrow bodylines. Spannable and well ribbed. She moved out well. Her young handler did a fantastic job and should be super proud of herself. This girl didn’t like to stand still and kept her handler working. Well handled!
