Thank you to everyone who entered on a Friday and gave me the biggest entry of the two groups on the day and the forth highest in the whole show! Pat and Paul my stewards were great and helped me to get through the dogs in an efficient way.
We were lucky enough to be outside on a perfect dog showing day weather wise.
Some super quality classes with hair splitting decisions and even lovely dogs unplaced. Whilst essentially a working terrier was a priority, I wanted my males, to look like males and my bitches easily recognisable as females, it sounds obvious but with some they could’ve passed for either.
Some really lovely dogs looked super stood, but failed on the move, not just coming and going, but more importantly to me, the side gait.
I think we need to be careful of mouths, I was surprised to find several with teeth out of line. Level bites, although allowed and not penalised on the day, some were in very young dogs and it makes me wonder if they will last.
Having said all that, I enjoyed my day and the dogs, who also seemed to enjoy being outside.

1st - Mysulan Going Solo JW VW (Mrs S J Baxter)
blue & tan still going strong. Ottery head and short strong muzzle with good teeth and bite. Good for size and easily spannable, holds a level topline and well set and carried tail, both standing and moving, in grand condition.
2nd - Cedarhill Front Of House RL.1 (Mr F & Mrs H Freeman)
Another super veteran who is a credit to his owner. Masculine, ottery head with a keen eye and strong muzzle, with super big teeth. In harsh coat, good pelt and balanced body, holding his topline on the move. Went round sound, showing with enthusiasm.

1st - Otterbobs Beazon (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin)
Attractive, light red with black muzzle to his masculine head. Well set ears, nice eye and good skull. Good neck and lengthy body, narrow throughout, with good balance and depth to chest. In super condition with harsh, double coat and thick pelt. Very sound moving and has a good stride, carrying a level topline and correctly set and carried tail. A very forward, but very nice puppy, taking bp over the bitch on maturity .
2nd - Borderbobs Vinney Jones (Mrs R Young)
Grizzle in lovely harsh, double coat, thick pelt and firm condition. Has a typical balanced head that shows promise. Nicely put together with good topline and balanced angulation. Good for size with just enough bone and good feet. Saw just enough between bounces, to see him move soundly. Immature, as you’d expect at this age, compared to one, but shows much promise and could change places as he matures.

grizzle in excellent coat and condition with nice head and topline, carrying his tail well. A little shorter in body at present and needs to tighten in front, but he is very young yet.

A nice class with several quality youngsters.
1st - Brumberhill Beswick (Mr S A Mcpherson)
lovely grizzle dog, just lacking his topcoat, but plenty of evidence of it coming in. Masculine head with super eye and expression strong muzzle, big teeth and big, black nose leather. Light framed, nice neck and forehand with level topline, easily spanned body and perfectly set, short carrot tail, which he carried well. Great rear, racy, not overdone which he strode out to give a good side gait. More topcoat, could have seen him go further, he was not easily discounted, nice dog.
2nd - Thistlemead Fortitude (Mrs P M Heeley)
Another nice one, bigger stamp, but not too big. Grizzle in deep double coat, just past it’s best. Lovely head, big muzzle, nice expression from his keen eye. Straight front, narrow body that was spannable with good tail that could be set a tad higher but he carries it well on the move, which he does well in all directions, using his well made quarters.

1st - Ravenside Rasputin (Mr M Lowry)
Red of beautiful type, masculine, handsome and ideal for size. Lovely head, strong muzzle, neat ear, keen eye. Love his neck into backline and tail set and carriage, gives him such a super outline standing. Straight forelegs, with ideal bone and good feet, carry an easily spanned body, with good double coat and thick pelt. Went round with a lovely side gait in the class but just didn’t flow so smoothly in the challenge and it cost him, should title without much trouble.
2nd - Brumberhill Bit O’Blarney JW (Mr S A Mcpherson)
Another beauty from this kennel, blue & tan in great order throughout with ottery head, flat skull, keen, nice shaped eye, short, strong muzzle and super mouth. Correctly proportioned body, very easy span, good coat and pelt, small feet, particularly liked his hind quarters, moving very well holding a lovely topline and correctly carried tail, another for top honours.

2nd - Kewhaigh Innocent Man JW (Mrs N A Cummins)
blue & tan, masculine, upstanding dog, who has much to recommend him Stronger all through than 1, but has good proportions with double coat and thick pelt. Moves well on the go around, covering the ground easily, just could be narrower in front for me and have some fill under the eye, but is very nice in every other respect.

1st - Jordith Roll Up And Shine JW (Mrs L.M.I & Mr A.M. Jordan-Smith)
paler grizzle with the balance that I wanted. Ottery head and keen eye, strong muzzle , love his skull and arch to his neck. Decent forehand, straight forelegs and ideal bone, light framed, of good balance and easy span, covered with double, crisp coat and thick pelt. Thickly rooted tail, carried well on the move. Has a nice outline and sound side gait. Still the best to come I think.
2nd - Foxchapel Perfect Day with Foxcourt (Ms S P Greenway)
darker grizzle, deeper through than 1 and slightly larger in ear, otherwise a very nice type. Has a nicely proportioned head with well balanced, spannable body in good coat, with level topline and strong well muscled rear. Covered the ground well.

2nd - Dandyhow Postman Pat (Mrs K M Irving)
lots to like about this richly coloured grizzle. Masculine , ottery head, strong muzzle on a good neck and spannable body. He was in great condition, with a deep crisp, double jacket and thick rooted short tail. Moved well in all directions, but particularly his smooth, rhythmical side gait.

A really beautiful, fully mature blue& tan of lovely quality. In sparkling condition , perfectly presented, harsh, double coat and thick pelt covering a fit body with just the right amount of muscle. Masculine, Ottery head, without coarseness, neat ear, dark eye and strong muzzle. Straight, well boned forelegs, neat , deep feet and narrow throughout with a great flow from his head to his tail. Well ribbed back, level topline and thickly rooted tail finish his racy quarters, which he used well, giving a smooth, ground covering stride. A worthy champion and could not be denied today, CC BOB
2nd - Cobstoneway Stand By Me JW (Mrs G Stevens)
light Red, upstanding dog with a lovely head and strong jaws. Presented in deep double coat and thick pelt with good topline and tail. Liked his neck into back line and easily spanned ribs, with the balance and length of body I was looking for. Nice bone and good feet he also moved well with a sound gait in all directions. RCC

light grizzle in super coat and condition. Lovely ottery head with powerful muzzle and still perfect mouth. Loved her size, bone and feet, easily spanned body and thickly rooted tail which she waved all the way around the ring, still enjoying herself.
2nd - Picer Martha Logen (Mr G & Mrs S Pickering)
Feminine headed, Darker grizzle in very deep crisp double coat and thick pelt. Good for size and surprisingly easy to span as she appears deep through but it is all jacket. Excellent feet and lovely straight forelegs, which she moved very true on. Good topline and well set, thick carroty tail, a super veteran, so typical and sound.

1st - Alcumlow Sip And Swirl (Mr P, Mrs B & Miss R Barber)
Blue & tan already a good colour with harsh dense double coat and decent pelt. Feminine head with well set ear that she will grow into yet as her skull matures. Strong muzzle and good bite. Has good length to her body and ribs, was very easy to span, topline was level with well set and carried tail. Balanced angulation front and rear. Good bone and feet which she moved well on. BPB
2nd - Otterbobs Duchy (Mrs D & Mr A Nock)
Grizzle of similar stamp in balance and type. Another feminine head with strong muzzle and keen eye. In super coat and condition with easily spanned body covered with a thick pelt. Tail a little long and thin as yet, but straight and well carried. Handled well to get the best out of her. She is a lovely size and has nice bone, legs and feet.

1st - Howthwaite Molly Malone (Mr R J & Mrs E A Barrett)
Blue & tan with balanced head but could be stronger muzzled and darker in eye. Narrow throughout with length to her body which was very easy to span. Spirit level topline and well set very short tail, which she is quite proud of. Powers off round the ring and would certainly follow a horse and get to ground.
2nd - Itsaso A Beacon Of Hope (Mrs L Wain)
Grizzle in great coat and condition with a lovely feminine head, neat ear, expressive eye and good mouth. Very easy to span, just enough bone, hopefully she will lay some flesh on them as she matures. Has a level topline but croup just spoils her tailset, but it is short and is carried well on the move, which she does soundly and with great enthusiasm, could easily swap places another day.

very feminine grizzle of nice size with a typical head and correctly balanced body. Good neck set into narrow, lithe body with super topline and short carroty tail correctly set on. Racy quarters which she used well on the move and covered the ground with an easy stride. In super condition, I’m sure we’ll hear more of her.
2nd - Whartonian Maggie May Of Rocherrier (Mrs S Miles-Ogden)
very nice lighter grizzle of heavier frame than 1 but well made throughout with lovely head, dark eye and neat ear set on a good reach of neck. A tad wider in front than one but had lots of quality about her. Good topline and nice length to her body, has a nice side gait.

2nd - Comberdown Witch's Promise (Mr I & Mrs A Higham)
Another nice bitch from this kennel who catches the eye on the go around. Carries a level topline and short well set tail on the move. Workmanlike and in fit condition, easy span.

grizzle, looked better in this class than she did earlier, more settled Nice size and type well balanced and in good coat and condition. Typical, feminine head and dark eye, needs time to develop, but that is on her side.
2nd - Mansergh Final Fling (Miss A Roslin Williams)
grizzle, of very light frame and decent length, very narrow all through with good bone for her size. Feminine head, good shaped, well set eye, a fraction light perhaps. Easily spanned body, with racy rear, still to develop, but she also has time on her side. Could certainly get anywhere underground.

Coat just coming in with good pelt. Level topline and well balanced, easily spanned, body with nicely angulated rear and short tail. Moves well in all directions and showed very well.

blue and tan, rangier type to one, but she also has some really lovely qualities. Very feminine head with lovely skull, dark eye and strong jaw. Nice length of neck into level topline and long deep ribs. Easy span, in excellent textured double coat of good colour with thick pelt. Strong rear which she moves out well on, useful sort.

1st - Raedwulf Moondance JW (Mr M & Mrs V Atkinson)
Strong headed red, ottery with a very keen expression. Lovely neck and straight forelegs with super bone and feet. Narrow, straight front, well ribbed back to short loin and powerful rear. Level topline and well set tail give a balanced outline. In deep double coat, just passing its peak but still in super condition, with a thick pelt. Pushed hard in the challenge.
2nd - Arunmere Artemis (Mrs A Parsons)
Very light grizzle with a lovely feminine head, moderately broad skull and strong muzzle with neat ear. Well made front and narrow all through with thick pelt and double jacket in super order. Ideal bone and good feet she moved soundly all round using her well muscled quarters. Just carrying a touch too much weight over her loin which detracted from her outline when viewed from above, but a very nice one indeed.

1st - Ragatam Brodie JW (Miss T J Peacock)
Very feminine, workmanlike bitch who was the right size and totally unexaggerated. Moderately broad skull, keen eye, well set v shaped ears and strong jaws with decent size teeth. On close inspection she has all the breed details, from her harsh double coat and thick pelt, to her good length, with ribs well back. Straight, forelegs with good bone and tight , small feet. Excellent topline and well set short carroty tail. Balanced angulation both ends, meant she moved easily around the ring ,BCC, her third. Congratulations.
2nd - Raedwulf Moonshine At Tarkaswell JW (Mr M & Mrs V Atkinson)
Another really super girl from this up and coming kennel. Gave me a real headache here to separate these two.Red, stronger than one with a very ottery head, keen eye and punishing jaw. Excellent deep double coat, just past it’s best but still super with thick pelt. Spannable, well ribbed back with shortish loin and well angulated hind quarters, finished with a well set tail. Purposeful, sound mover carrying a level topline, should make up without much trouble.
