Thank you to my stewards, Hayley and Malcolm and to all the exhibitors who endured the heat and accepted my decisions sportingly, on what must have been one of the hottest days of the year. Overall the quality of the entry was good with some lovely dogs. Mouths, tails and size were generally good. Coats varied (as they always do) in both quality and the stage of growth. There were a number of pelts that could have been thicker and loose which was disappointing as this is mentioned in the standard and important from a working point of view. I was surprised and disappointed to see evidence of scissorwork on some coats and grooming was not always done to the dog’s best advantage – this does not affect the ability to work but this is a dog show and presentation therefore does count to a degree when placing the dogs. Compared to the last time I judged, I felt that size had improved and in most cases the dogs today were closer to the standard.

1st - Onziemehurst The Red Baron (Miss A Nettle)
Dark grizzle in fine coat and a really good pelt. Narrow body with plenty of length. Pleasing youngster of just 6 months clearly enjoying his day out. Movement needs to settle but some of this I put down to youthful exuberance.

1st - Brumberhill Bit O’Blarney (Mr S A Mcpherson)
Blue and Tan, 11 months. Fabulous coat of the correct colour and texture. Beautiful otter head, with a lovely correct front. An excellent topline which was held as he moved. Nicely proportioned with a good length of rib and bend in stifle. Moved well. Pressed hard by second. Both are lovely puppies but preferred the head and expression of 1
Best Puppy and TPG2
2nd - Forest Zpod Chlumskych Haju Glebeheath (Mrs J Guvercin)

Grizzle and tan – a little short of coat today. Pleasing head with attractive dark v-shaped ears and large strong teeth. Deep enough for his age, does not want to grow on too much.

1st - Botterox Chaos (Miss S Hillman)
Pleasing blue and tan in excellent harsh coat. Nice outline and type. Good straight front but would have preferred a little more length as this makes him look deep. Lovely thick pelt and a level topline. Moved well in spite of the heat.
2nd - Rockslade Romeo’s Revenge (Mr K Phillips)
Nice type, light grizzle who lost out to the winner on movement. Shown well he was of correct proportion and size. Lovely otter head with attractive dark ears. Good reach of neck flowing into an excellent topline. Narrow front and good profile with enough bend in stifle to complete a good outline. Showed and shown well.

1st - CH Barkanellie Blackadder (Mr I & Mrs J Taylor)
Quality grizzle and tan in excellent coat and with a thick pelt. Narrow throughout with a good length of rib. Excellent front. Super otter head with large strong teeth and jaw. Loved his overall balance and shape. He moved with purpose despite the heat of the day. Excellent tail and tailset. No exaggerations, he looked the part so I was delighted to award him the CC and BOB. A well-deserved winner today, he was on top form.
2nd - CH Otterbobs Tolson (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin)
Grizzle and tan, another lovely Border, immaculately presented. He certainly looked the part although his coat was not fully through. He is didn’t put a foot wrong, this seasoned professional with his attractive otter head, good reach of neck and narrow, straight front. Nicely proportioned, a really super Border, I just preferred the outline and movement of 1.

1st - Brankell Angeleyes At Nantcoch (Mrs J M Phillips)
Grizzle in excellent coat and nicely presented. Would have preferred a little less hair round the face as this detracts a little from her feminine head. Nicely angulated and narrow throughout. Could have done with a little more length in the body.
2nd - Borderrush Rambutan JW (Miss A J Hall)
Dark grizzle, up to size but with in excellent pin wire coat. Nice overall shape to her with a good length and thickness of tail. Not so strong in head as 1 and lost out on movement.

Lots to like about this blue and tan with good coat and pelt. Beautiful head and expression with dark eye. Lovely reach of neck and correct front. Well placed shoulders and a lovely topline. Plenty of length of rib, she is of correct size and therefore easily spanned. Showed really well. RCC
2nd - Onthill Crystal Clear To Foxpaw (Mrs H Fulker)
Another lovely exhibit, it was a close decision between this and the winner. Grizzle and tan with enough coat today, she has a nice length of rib and body. Could have done with a touch more length of neck to make the outline look more balanced. Lovely otter head with a nice expression. Also correct sized and feminine. Moved well fore and aft.

1st - Tarkaswell Sea The Stars (Mrs C E Sansom)
This neat grizzle and tan with an excellent coat of correct harsh texture, ticked all the boxes today. She was in top condition and was presented beautifully. With a feminine head and good reach of neck, correct shoulder placement and a spirit-level topline. Good tail set and rear angulation, she moved freely round the ring. Apparently now in happy retirement as I was happy to award her third CC.
2nd - CH Orangebox A New Hope At Itsaso ShCEx (Miss L Tanton-Joy)
A sound grizzle and tan also of correct size. In good shape and a good shape, she was short of coat but what was in evidence looked to be correct (harsh). A nice feminine looking head and nicely proportioned with defined rear angulation she stood nicely square for her handler and stepped out well when moving.
