Thank you to the officers and committee for my first-time appointment at this level. This show is my ‘local’ which made it even more special, If you have never been it is worth the trip down the M5 a warm welcome will meet you.
I was thrilled with the quality of my entry, one observation I did find a lot of untidy feet, splayed toes, long nails and thin pads, I did however find no kinked tails and only one mouth fault.
Best Of Breed: Glebeheath Ophelia
Winner of Limit and took my eye when entering the ring. Her blue and tan coat was harsh and dense, with thick skin generating a lovely pliable pelt she was presented and handled to perfection on the day. So well balanced in her construction with flow from her attractive head with typical expression, dark eye and well-placed ears, elegant neck, clean shoulder and lay of rib, spannable, well-muscled, finished off with a short tail used on the move, and she can with good tracking motion and drive from the rear. Thrilled to see her shortlisted in the group.
DCC: Cedarhill The Wish
Winner of Junior, he is a real showman that screams border terrier. Very eye catching when in the stack, holding a very typical outline. When on the table you are greeted with an otter, flat skull, well set ears, dark eye and varmity expression. Presented in fabulous jacket, harsh topcoat, undercoat, and pelt. When settled he moves true both ways holding his shape. Honoured to award him his first CC and will follow his career with interest. In the final challenge for BOB the bitch just had a bit more maturity and was steadier on the move.
RDCC: CH Otterbobs Tolson
Winner of Open this top dog was a pleasure to go over, and I was so happy to get the opportunity to get up close to him and he didn’t disappoint. Everything is there, masculine head, correct construction, coat of correct texture. He moved with economy and didn’t put a foot wrong close decision for the top award.
BCC: Glebeheath Ophelia
As above
RBCC: Otterbobs Beatrix JW
Winner of Yearling a beautiful grizzle bitch that immediately took my eye. She is so well balanced with a lovely flow to her construction, easy to span, correct in shoulder and rib. Attractive feminine head with well set ears and dark eye. Presented in fantastic coat with good dept and texture. Pressed hard in the challenge.
Best Puppy: TPG1, Forest Zpod Chlumskych Haju Glebeheath
Winning both the Minor Puppy and Puppy classes then placed over the puppy bitch to become Best Puppy in Breed, and I was thrilled to see him go Puppy Group 1. I am sure this young man has a very bright future ahead of him. Still has some maturing which will be exciting to watch as he develops. Well-schooled grizzle who has so much ring presence. presented in good order in harsh double jacket. Typical in head with clean scissor bite. Holds his profile shape in the stack and on the move and strode out with drive and purpose.
Best Veteran: CH Cobstoneway Love Song JW ShCM VW
Pleased that her owner brought her today even at 10 years old she still processes breed type and showmanship that gained her title. Grizzle bitch with double jacket with good texture. Attractive head with keen expression, she still holds her shape in profile. She moved ok in front but rather close behind, but her overall quality secured her place today.
Special Beginners in Breed: Onthill Living The Dream
Grizzle dog who although larger in frame has a lot of breed type, shown in double jacket that is nearing a refresh but still of good texture. Masculine head with varminity expression, strong jaw housing big teeth set in a scissor bite.

2nd - Daeargi Heatwave (Miss R Bevan)
Well-conditioned dark grizzle bitch, ideal for size and easy to span. Ok expression, jaw housing large teeth in scissor bite. Coat of good texture. Moved soundly and stands on small, neat feet. Just preferred the head of 1st.
3rd - Sherdonwater Drop O'Scotch (Mrs D M Brook)
Grizzle bitch of good size but was carrying a little bit too much condition, presented in new harsh tight coat, moved OK but loses her topline on the move.

2nd - Arunmere Bullet Proof (Miss J Windsor-Hichens)
Grizzle of 10 months, build on different lines than 1st being slightly larger all round but still spannable, he has a very masculine head with a keen expression that houses a correct strong scissor bite. Covered the ground with his reach in front could be better behind. Just couldn’t match 1 for overall type and presence.

1st - Cedarhill The Wish (Mr B. l. & Mrs M. Regeer)
As Above
2nd - Otterbobs Quiggins (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin)
Another quality exhibit who has all the attributes expected of a border terrier, otter like appearance, scissor bite made up of large teeth, presented in harsh rich grizzle double coat. Was easily spanned. Moved well holding his shape I just found 1 had a more positive front action today.
3rd - Glenaig Time Is On My Side (Miss J Spencer)
Larger grizzle and tan that was in a lovely full jacket, correct proportions and could be spanned just unfortunately today he would not cooperate with his handler making movement difficult to access.

1st - Cedarhill Make A Wish For Roxellia (Mrs C M & Mr M D Peffers)
16 month old grizzle and tan who demonstrated correct proportions when in the stack. Very typical in head and expression with correct detention, small well-placed ears and dark eye, nice lay of rib so easily spanned. Moved OK, better in front that behind
2nd - Glenaig Time Is On My Side (Miss J Spencer)
Repeat entry see 3rd in Junior

1st - Bluebabel Border Song JW (Mr K P & Mrs N B Yates)
Grizzle and tan presented in fantastic condition, masculine head with correct dentation he was shown today in a good jacket with harsh topcoat and dense undercoat. Liked his lay of shoulder and front he was easy to span. I could see him following a horse all day.
2nd - Arunmere For Fox Sake (Miss J Hughes)
Handled to advantage, I preferred the size of 1 to this exhibit but he is also a very honest type of border, masculine in head with correct bite, his ears are slightly large that distracts from his overall expression slightly. Presented in full jacket nearing its end but still tidy and harsh. Moved well around the ring holding his shape with good tracking motion.
3rd - Foxchapel Perfect Day with Foxcourt (Ms S P Greenway)
Grizzle and tan presented in new tight coat that showed off his outline. He was a nice sort to go over but neither of the two remaining dogs in this class moved as well as 1 and 2.
Res - Redesholt Han Solo (Mrs S McKay)

1st - Benattivo Charlie Brown (Mrs S J & Mr C P Girling)
This extremely competitive class was headed up by the upstanding grizzle male and he is all male. Masculine head, housing large teeth in a strong scissor bite, Dark eye and well-set small ears framed his expression. Well placed rib and muscled hind quarters allowed him to move with a free stride covering the ground. In consideration in the challenge.
2nd - Cobstoneway Stand By Me JW (Mrs G Stevens)
Grizzle and tan presented today in new tight coat just coming in. Pleasant in head but slightly lighter in eye than 1 but did not detract from his overall expression. He is very balanced in construction with plenty of breed type. Holds his profile on the move but could be more positive in rear movement today.
3rd - Dassett Igglepiggle JW (Mrs S Spafford)
Another very typical border, more up on the leg that the other two but plenty to like and all in proportion. Shown in correct coat that was well presented. Would just prefer a more ground covering front action.

2nd - CH Stineval Lambert JW (Mr A & Mrs C Horner)
Close decision today between these two quality dogs, 1st just had a bit more drive on the move today. Darker grizzle carrying a fantastic coat of harsh texture and real dept. Liked his head shape and expression, correct bite with big teeth, and strong jaw. Stands on small, neat feet with thick pads. His construction flowed from his neck into shoulder layback of rib into loin with everything in the right place, not overdone in any way.
3rd - CH Barkanellie Blackadder (Mr I & Mrs J Taylor)
Another lovely dog, grizzle, jacket was harsh with undercoat, correct in construction. Masculine in head with strong jaw and large teeth. Moved Ok but not quite the drive behind as 1st and 2nd.

1st - Tarkaswell Time Traveller (Mrs C E Sansom)
Very smart blue and tan bitch puppy with so much promise. Free shown to advantage this shows off her profile and correct tail set. Head still developing and slightly plainer in expression that 2nd. Very balanced with well laid-back rib into loin, I feel she still needs to come together in order to balance out in ratio but today she scored over 2nd in her sound movement especially in front.
2nd - Benattivo Oh Joy (Mrs S J & Mr C P Girling)
Another blue and tan and boy what a pelt she has for one so young. Otter-like head of correct proportions, small V shape ears well set that frame her head well giving her a lovely expression. Stands on small catlike feet and short carrot tail which for me just completes the picture. Moved OK but needs to tighten.
3rd - Foxchapel Appleby Fair (Mr W & Mrs V Davies)
Grizzle and tan puppy still needs time to develop and mature and couldn’t match 1 on movement or 2 for coat today but has all the correct building blocks. I will watch these three pups with interest.

2nd - Fryerfold Galena (Mrs S J Stephenson)
Blue and tan bitch who for me is a lovely size, pretty head with small well-set ears and dark eye. Shown in full jacket of good texture. Moved Ok.
3rd - Bluebabel A Good Heart (Mr K P & Mrs N B Yates)
Grizzle puppy who just didn’t settle at all in the ring. Recently stripped coat just coming in with some texture evident. Ok in head and expression, spannable but more rounded in rib than the winner.

This was a hard class with none of the exhibits moving well.
1st - Earthtaw Peony (E.Larner, J.Phillips & R.Larner)
Moved the better of the three in the class.
Just out of puppy and still needs to mature, Lighter grizzle and tan in Ok coat. Head still developing with correct dentition. Lower set tail that could be used better on the move in order to retain the profile she holds when in the stack.
2nd - Blackthorn Winter (Miss S Waller)
Pretty blue and tan who looked lovely in the stack and I thought would be my winner in this class. Coat well presented of harsh texture and with depth. Was sound on the table, spanned with ease and rib to loin in proportion. However, was very unsettled on the move with a crabbing action therefore making it hard to assess.
3rd - Penarkwood Little Star (Mr M F Gooding & Mrs J Yates)
Another attractive grizzle bitch with an otter like head and in good coat, but again wouldn’t co-operate appearing to be wide in movement.

1st - Otterbobs Beatrix JW (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin)

2nd - Stineval Sasha JW (Mr A & Mrs C Horner)
Close up to 1 with much to like. Workman like grizzle bitch, typical in head with a varmity expression, well set ears and nice dark eye shape. Balanced and spannable. Presented in double coat with depth and thick pelt. Moved with economy around the ring just didn’t quite have the presence of 1 today but I am sure these places will be reverse throughout their showing careers.
3rd - Arunmere Artemis (Mrs A Parsons)
Well-handled grizzle with plenty of breed type although of a larger frame that 1 and 2 she has a good length of neck into well-structured shoulders and rib making her easy to span. Attractive head with good expression. She moved well around the ring.
Res - Clydebeck Layla's Gem (Mrs S A & Miss J A Taylor)
VHC - Arunmere Nighthawk (Miss J Hughes)

1st - Picer Mirabel Ostler (Mr G & Mrs S Pickering)
Blue and Tan bitch that I very much liked, in fabulous condition and presentation, coat was thick and harsh with plenty of depth to it. Found her very appealing in head with large teeth, scissor bite, small triangle shaped ear falling to the cheek. Good for size and one of the few with a short carrot tail. Stood on tight catlike feet. In the class moved with purpose but unfortunately due to a handler change was not happy in the challenge.
2nd - Thistlestone Winter's Gold (Miss M Whisker)
Grizzle and tan who also appealed greatly, of a nice size and easy to span. Again, had neat feet and a short tail. Jacket giving that tweedy appearance and was of good texture. Couldn’t quite match the expression of 1st.
3rd - Barkanellie Sirencraft (Mrs J & Mr I Taylor)
Workman like grizzle who moved well and was presented in really good coat. Just preferred 1 and 2 for head and expression.

2nd - Thistlemead Scentsation JW (Ms P M Heeley)
Much to like about the grizzle and tan, typical head with large teeth in scissor bite, well placed ears, lighter in eye but this did not distract from her keen expression. Shown in harsh topcoat with undercoat and good pelt. Moved well around the ring with good tracking motion and drive. Was carrying a little bit more around the waist today than 1st place.
3rd - Barkanellie Flashheart (Mr I & Mrs J Taylor)
Liked the size of this grizzle bitch and she spanned well. Moved with a free and easy stride. Coat just going over but all in all an honest border.
Res - Penarkwood Dancing Brave (Mr M F Gooding & Mrs J Yates)
VHC - Glenaig Gleeful (Miss C Spencer)
Entries: 6 Absentees: 2
1st - Picer Martha Logen (Mr G & Mrs S Pickering)
Grizzle and tan presented in top draw order she has plenty of breed type and scored over second in head, with her small ear and dark eye creating a varminity expression. She comes to hand well and flows through in her construction being easy to span. Moved with a ground covering stride but just lost her spark in the challenge.
2nd - Rockslade Russian Roulette JW (Miss G Lowe & Mr T Miles)
Another lovely made bitch who was a delight to go over. She is slighter in build with more length than one but all in proportion and in good coat Correct front and shoulder with lovely lay of rib making her very spannable. Moved well around the ring being extremely positive in her rear action.
3rd - Tarkaswell Sea The Stars (Mrs C E Sansom)
This bitch draws the eye when stacked, presented coat of correct texture. Plainer in head that 1 and her ears could be smaller but are well set. Was not as positive or vibrant on the move today.
Res - Emblehope Let's Dance At Redesholt (Mrs S McKay)

I always enjoy a veteran class, and these three ladies are a credit to their owners and a real testament to our breed of being ‘fit for function’
1st - CH Cobstoneway Love Song JW ShCM VW (Mrs G Stevens)
As Above
2nd - Clydebeck Solitaire VW (Mrs S & Mr M & Miss J Taylor)
Another super older lady. Not the same overall appearance of 1 but a really sound, good moving individual. Coat just on the change but still harsh, still processed a straight front and is easy to span. Handled well.
3rd - Foxcourt Amber Spirit Gambler (Ms S P Greenway)
The younger of the veterans today, well presented in a lovely harsh jacket, she has an attractive head just slightly heavy throughout and just not moving as well when compared to 1 and 2.
