A very promising entry on paper but unfortunately the weather took its toll !
However I was more than happy with my main winners all were typical of what I look for in a Border Terrier and the proof that careful breeding pays off was demonstrated by the very promising progeny found amongst the youngsters.
As is my approach to critiques, generally the winners in most respects all meet the standard which calls for a working terrier with an otter like head on reasonable length neck set into well laid shoulders, a moderate length body, well ribbed back, strong shortish loin, racy but moderate rear angulation allowing the dog to move with drive, in harsh double coat and with thick pelt. I do not therefore repeat this for each individual dog but I have highlighted the dog’s best points and the reasons for their placings .
Best Of Breed: CH Thistlestone Glenfiddich
Considered this boy for top honours when I last judged, has since matured into the complete picture, well constructed throughout, shown in ideal grizzle coat and condition and comes into his own on the move covering the ground with ease.
DCC: CH Thistlestone Glenfiddich
RDCC: CH Yorkpiece Fiery Lucifer
Close up to CC winner, blue and tan also shown in good coat and condition but just preferred the scope and ground covering movement of winner.
BCC: CH Alcumlow Bloom JW
Good size blue and tan so well made, shown in good coat and condition and full of herself today which made her rather exuberant on the move but she could not disguise her sound movement.
RBCC: Bohamer York'ist Celeste By Tythrop TA
This young bitch has such promise, blue and tan put down and moves so well and with maturity should soon be claiming top honours.
Best Puppy: Dandyhow Postman Pat
Winning best puppy on maturity, red grizzle developing into a dog so typical of the old type from this kennel as they say ‘breeding will with out.’
Best Veteran: Orangecastle Zaurak at Foxfactor
A cracking oldie enjoying her day out and displaying good condition and movement.
