Many thanks to the Officers and the committee for kindly inviting me to Judge at the show and my most capable stewards for their efficiency in the ring. My sincere thanks also to the exhibitors for their entries and support. The classes were filled with some lovely breed quality dogs and bitches and on completing my appointment I was delighted to see my final line up(s) presenting me with such a hard task in my final decision of who to award the ultimate top honours too! That always makes for a satisfying end to a judges day. So can i take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me the privilege of judging your Border terriers Two nice classes of pups which bodes well for the future

1st - Holdenelms Worth The Wait Via Ycart (Mr K K Fraser & Mrs T J Butler)
This 13mth old rich red lad came into the ring and immediately caught my eye appealing greatly for type, Good head proportions dark eye giving a real varmity expression. Excellent bite and strong underjaw. Balanced outline good bone, feet, and correct rib carried well back and he comes to hand so well. Spans with ease. Shown in super jacket with thick pliable pelt Has a real air about him loved his attitude both on the move and standing. He won 1st in a strong class and went on to beat off some real quality in the final line up to secure the RCC. He simply compelled me to look at him. Only a baby as yet, I wish him all the best for his future show career
2nd - Cedarhill Ghost Writer (Mrs M Fleming)
16 mth old Grizzle and Tan beat off strong competition to secure 2nd and like 1st appealed for his many breed qualities, Just felt in the final run-off, although sound he lacked the enthusiasm of 1st on the move today.

Strong class
1st - Stowthorney Mr Tickle JW (Mr R Brewster & Ms J Green)
Well this Grizzle and Tan lad looked a picture, and I could not fail but to award him 1st, he pulled out all the stops to ensure i couldn’t overlook him, Rising 3-years-old he’s such a lovely moderate dog who has balance and quality. Loved his otter head correct expression dark eye and strong scissor bite. Fit and well muscled shown and handled to every advantage in the best of jackets and condition spanned easily, Straight narrow front he stands on firm padded feet, well boned, and scopey he covers the ground both standing and on the move where his strong racy quarters moved him with ease around the ring. Delighted to award him his first CC and no doubt the others will surely follow. Will look forward to, and enjoy the day he gains his well-deserved crown
2nd - Brumberhill Back T' Future JW (Mr S A Mcpherson)
This youngster has quality in abundance and holds such great breed appeal. Loved his outgoing temperament. Another who as to be expected was put down in good order, but sadly he did not give of his best on the move although sound on the go-around he didn’t settle coming towards me. Needless to say, at two years old time is on his side.

Grizzle and Tan 14mths I have to say I was rather smitten with this young lady. Like the DRCC she too commanded my full attention. Such a pretty feminine otter head, lovely expression neat ear, and scissor bite. She really appealed for type.Super jacket and pelt and lovely layback of neck and shoulders, she spanned well and was balanced and of the correct size.Handled and presented to show her full potential i was delighted to award her the BRCC. Good class
1st - Cobstoneway Love Song JW ShCM (Mrs G Stevens)
My star of the day and i loved her. Such a gorgeous 19mths old Grizzle and Tan bitch of beautiful breed type, she filled my eye both standing and on the move. She is so correct for type she just says “Border” all over her and although feminine she certainly lacks no terrier strength in her bone and stamp She has a lovely otter head dark eye and ears carried close to her cheek. Strong scissor bite and correct strength of muzzle. A picture of fitness and balance from her ottery-head to her carroty tail. Shown in the correct double jacket, dense undercoat, and harsh topcoat, that certainly would afford her the protection doing the job for which she was bred. She spans with ease and comes to hand as only a true border terrier does. I loved her as a puppy, awarded her BPIB and I made a prediction that she would mature on to greater things and I’m am truly delighted to have been able to award her, her first BCC and then in the Challenge she simply transfixed me giving the male such a runoff, moving out with style and verve. Although complementing each other. I had no choice but to succumb to her and hand her the BOB. This may be your first and like the DCC winner, the rest is yet to come and I await the day that I can celebrate your most worthy crown too.
2nd - Hartswelin She's The One (Miss L J Coleman)
This pretty 2yr old Grizzle and Tan bitch is all you would require for breed type. Lovely otterhead and balanced throughout She held great appeal and, has much to commend her, but oddly, although slightly older than 1st, and the BRRC I feel she needs a little more time to fulfil her potential. Very sound on the move. One to watch out for

I really like the stamp of this 2yr old Blue and Tan bitch. In a lovely class such as this she had the don’t you dare ignore me attitude. And i couldn’t. Lovely head expression and wicked eye, good strength of muzzle and teeth but retaining her feminity. Shown in super harsh jacket, she presented a lovely balanced outline. Best of ribs carried well back. And correct span Moved well coming and going,
2nd - Badgerbeck The Masher (Miss L M Jenkins)

rising 5yrs old this Beautiful Grizzle and Tan bitch was just lovely to go over she simply, spanned with ease. Not difficult to see why she’s done so well and carries her title I just loved her outlook, she and her handler were at one in the ring, her tail never stopped wagging, wanting to please. Sound fore and aft she presented a lovely picture . Such a pleasure to watch.
2nd - CH Otterbobs Xolana (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin)
Quality grizzle and tan although a different type to first she held appeal and also was a pleasure to judge. Shown in lovely condition in the best of jackets and pelt, sound on the move but I felt she lacked the verve of first … maybe a season pending?
