Many thanks to East Anglia B.T.C. officers and committee for giving me the opportunity to judge their show, and to all the exhibitors for such a lovely entry. Special thanks to my two stewards, Richard and Julie for making sure everything ran smoothly on the day. Overall, I thought the quality was good and I was pleased with my main winners, very balanced with lots to like and it was a pleasure to go over them.

My first time giving ccs in this lovely breed and an experience I enjoyed immensely . To dig deep into such a numerically good entry and try find a pattern to type combined with condition and structure with good movement is always fruitful and I felt my line ups were good and uniform in general . As a non specialist my intention was to find a specimen of good type but most importantly of the correct proportions and tail set and carriage . a dog in fit hard condition that can keep up with the horse and hounds on any terrain . short legs and deep chested dogs were not to my interpretation . Dogs with good leg length and ground clearance with height at the withers being greater, a correct topline and underline ,a tail set off the back and at 45 degrees carriage were highly rewarded . Expression is key and the otter head and expression is easily recognisable in the good ones . Whilst most were spannable the correct flat ribs and loose pelting was few and far between .

Thank you to the Committee of the City of Birmingham Canine Association for inviting me to judge at their Championship Show. It was an honour to judge Borders Terriers on the day. I would like to thank especially the Border Terrier exhibitors for giving me such a super entry and for their graciousness and sporting manner. The venue was airy and the ring was roomy. I realised afterwards that the carpet could be rather slippery and I think that this may have provided somewhat of a challenge at times. I had many lovely dogs to go over and sometimes making decisions was like splitting hairs. Finally thank you to my stalwart stewards who were super organized and kept me on the straight and narrow.

Feminine 7 month old girl. Beautiful head piece. Good proportions with neat feet and strong rear. Just needs to settle and develop in front but very much a baby on the day.

My thanks to the Officers and Committee for giving me the opportunity to judge at their efficiently run and splendidly organised show and my heartfelt appreciation to the two stewards, Jackie and John who kept proceedings running so competently and smoothly throughout. Finally my sincere thanks and appreciation to all the exhibitors for entering and letting me go over their dogs for which I take as a great privilege and honour.

Thank you to my stewards who helped me with their friendly efficiency that made it easy for me to concentrate on the Border Terrier judging. A bit of pressure to get out of the ring but I hope this did not spoil anything for my top winners or the other exhibitors who seemed to appreciate my choices out of a wonderful group of dogs. A couple of close bites and the odd bump in tails, some under/over weight exhibits which was a shame as some may well have moved further up the line. As expected a great deal of variation in coats but the vast majority were presented as well as they could be in their growth cycle. Thanks to everyone who entered and showed such good sportsmanship in accepting my decisions and supporting others. I was delighted with my class winner lines ups for both dogs and bitches, some hotly contested classes and tough choices for me throughout the day.
