Well schooled 6 month bitch who is balanced and has a super outline. Good overall size of head, but would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle. Very dark eyes. Good topline with a level back of fair length, well set tail and carriage. Quality coat which is harsh and with a decent pelt. Correct quarters which resulted in good movement

I didn't realise these two were siblings but thought they were very alike; really with not a lot to split them. The outstanding confidence and self-assuredness of the winner won the day, but this one too has a lot of promise and should do well.

I would like to thank the committee for the opportunity to judge their show, thanks also to my ring stewards for helping everything run smoothly and as efficiently as possible.
The breed standard calls for numerous elements which make up the border terrier and with that its ability to cover ground efficiently and economically with no exaggerations,it also states “essentially a working terrier” .I feel we are losing many fundamentals of the breed especially in front movement wide fronts, short upper arms,sprung ribcages,undesirable toplines, lack of drive from the rear quarters and poor feet all of which restrict the border to work efficiently. Weak and short muzzles, lack of fill under the eye are creeping in and are undesirable in a working terrier.

Grizzle, very alert with lovely expression,nice head with little stop, correct dentition, nice jaw and fill under the eye, lovely length of neck into well laid shoulders, narrow front which continued throughout, easily spanned, lovely jacket and pelt, tailset well on,tight padded feet, moved with drive and confidence holding topline moving and standing.

A big thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge my breed at their lovely Christmas show. It was my first time judging at a breed club show and it couldn’t have gone any better - the welcome was amazing, my stewards were fantastic and the atmosphere felt so harmonious and friendly. A true club show atmosphere. I am also immensely grateful to the exhibitors who entered and let me go over their lovely dogs. Thank you all so very much, I had an amazing day.
Temperaments were good and all dogs were spannable. Coats were in different stages which is OK. A number of exhibits would benefit from a little less condition.

7 months old G & T puppy and litter sister to my MPD winner and similar comments apply. A female version of her brother, narrow throughout and balanced. Good length and shape of rib and excellent coat and loose thick pelt. Confident and forward going, moved very well with a ground covering stride. BPB & RBPIS.

Thank you to my stewards who helped me with their friendly efficiency that made it easy for me to concentrate on the Border Terrier judging. A bit of pressure to get out of the ring but I hope this did not spoil anything for my top winners or the other exhibitors who seemed to appreciate my choices out of a wonderful group of dogs. A couple of close bites and the odd bump in tails, some under/over weight exhibits which was a shame as some may well have moved further up the line. As expected a great deal of variation in coats but the vast majority were presented as well as they could be in their growth cycle. Thanks to everyone who entered and showed such good sportsmanship in accepting my decisions and supporting others. I was delighted with my class winner lines ups for both dogs and bitches, some hotly contested classes and tough choices for me throughout the day.
