Thank you to the club for the invitation to judge and the exhibitors for their entries. Judged inside due to weather, some exhibits found the floor a bit distracting. Thank you to the committee for a well-run show and my tasty lunch. Thank you to my steward and their young helper, always encouraging to see the youth being encouraged.

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge the Border Terriers today; and my thanks also to our steward, who kept the ring running smoothly and efficiently. If I have a plea to exhibitors it would be this: please pay attention to cleanliness of teeth and overall presentation especially feet and nails. Thank you.

One-year-old red bitch. A tad overweight and short of coat today which affected placing and overall image. Dark eye and keen gaze on a well- proportioned head-Spannable with a good front assembly and standing on thick padded small feet. Movement ok.

I would like to thank the officers & committee for giving me the opportunity to judge the Border Terrier classes, & also a big thank you to Penny Winger & Gavin Argill my two ring stewards who kept things in order & also made sure we finished on time, and a special mention to my Best of Breed winner for attending the terrier group, and being rewarded with being short listed in the final seven.

I’d like to thank the committee for appointing me for this show. With 16 dogs entered and 2 absent I was very pleased with my above average entry for this show. All the dogs had good dentition, and coats generally good

21 month old bitch that stood alone today. Nice strong muzzle with the correct bite, dark eye and neat ears. Moved well forward and back. Needed a little judicious grooming to coat which didn’t do her justice.

2 year old bitch with a lovely head and expression. Being slightly bigger overall than the first, she is spannable. Well angulated both ends with just enough length of leg. She has a well set on tail. Good pelt and jacket. Movement sound both ways.

Grizzle bitch just shy of 2 years rushed into the ring at the last moment, full of spirit. Excellent harsh jacket and pliable thick pelt. Broad skull with correct bite and strength of muzzle. A little deep in chest but spannable. Lovely topline and tail set. Straight front and well muscled rear, moved correctly with drive. RBOB

Joint Border Terrier Clubs Championship Show

Judge: Mrs Jane Morton-Shaw (Fehmarn)
Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge what turned out to be the last Joint Ch Show. I had a wonderful day, & I was very ably and efficiently aided by my two stewards Tracey Anscombe and Peter Armstrong & I send my thanks out to them again (shows can’t run without good stewards). My main down side to a lot of the Borders I went over was the front movement (I’m not immune to this either)! This needs watching and careful breeding to try and improve on this fault - not easy I know, but something to aim for. Again very few Borders with a good thick pelt which we used to have. Top lines have much improved generally and good to see that most of the exhibits were in good fit/hard condition.

Nice looking bitch, but just has too much length in her body making her unbalanced in outline. She was too close in her front movement. Correct bite & with a lovely feminine head with nice sized ears placed well. Tail well set on. She moved well in profile.
