First Place in Junior, Judge: Mr Darren Lockley (Chatmoss)
My thanks to the Committee & Officers of the Club for inviting me to Judge this show but more so to the exhibitors who entered and attended, making the Border Terriers the largest entry in the Terrier Group. Having read the Breed Standard again prior to judging I was looking for exhibits which I would be happy to take out in the fields and woods for the day without worrying if they could handle it.
Two great exhibits.
10 mth Grizzle dog presented in excellent condition. Easily spanned. Has a lovely balanced outline both standing and on the move. Very good head of moderate proportions with correct earset. Good, dark, almond shaped eyes. Strong muzzle with big teeth in a clean scissor bite. Reach of neck, shoulder placement and front assembly are very good all of which stood on tight feet with thick pads. Ribbed well back with a strong loin, well muscled rear end, well let down hocks. Lovely shaped tail, well set on. Coat was excellent, harsh and dense with a loose thick pelt. Straight, efficient movement in all directions. TPG 2, RBOB & BPIP
