First Place in Puppy - Dog, Judge: Miss Angie Nettle (Onziemehurst)
I would like to thank the officers and committee for asking me to judge the show, also making me feel so welcomed. My biggest thanks go to all the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to go over their dogs and for the sporting manner in which my decisions were accepted.
However, there was a harsh lesson learnt by me this day. Do not trust/rely on the stewards to be always be right. Believe in myself when someone appears to be more experienced at stewarding but has called the wrong dog into the ring. Stand firm.
Having come into Borders through hunting and horses; I like a dog in fit hard condition that can keep up with the horse and hounds over hill and field. Essentially a working terrier.
12 months old Dark Grizzle dog. Keen dark kind eyes, set in a moderately broad head with close to the head ears. Short strong muzzle and correct bite. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders which complimented his movement. Neat well padded feet and straight front legs. Easily spanned, with a strong loin and narrow body with tight ribs. Correct tail set creating an overall picture with his harsh jacket, plenty of undercoat and a super thick pelt. Smart correct movement
