First Place in Open, Judge: Sarah Pateman (Lessien)
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the committee for inviting me to judge the Border Terriers at their show. Although the journey the preceding day was lengthy, it proved to be truly worthwhile. I was privileged to assess an outstanding entry of high-quality dogs and bitches, and I am grateful to all the exhibitors for affording me this opportunity. While the size of the ring presented some logistical challenges, the Border Terrier community adapted admirably and ensured the event ran smoothly. The committee demonstrated excellent attentiveness throughout, as did the two stewards who supported me during the show. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this event.
(Grizzle and Tan Dog) BOB, TG1 and BIS
Chesterton Veva Las Vegas immediately captured my attention upon entering the ring, maintaining a presence throughout. Displaying confidence, he clearly enjoyed his time in the spotlight. His strong otter head is complemented by a dark, keen eye that contributes to his alert and expressive demeanour. The correct length of neck flows into well-laid shoulders, supporting a pleasing outline.
He maintains a solid topline both when standing and, on the move, while strong angulation at both the front and rear ensures excellent balance and fluidity in his gait. His feet are neat and compact, standing on thick pads that offer stability and support. The jacket is tight and harsh, underpinned by a thick, pliable pelt.
There is no exaggeration in any aspect of this dog; he is of true type and his performance and attributes rightfully earned him Best of Breed (BOB), after which he progressed to win TG1 and ultimately achieved Best in Show (BIS) — a great achievement for this dog.
