The Southern Border Terrier Club Championship Show (29-06-2024)

First Place in Open - Bitch, Judge: Mrs Margaret Sneddon (Kersfell)

Show Critique:

I would like to thank the Committee for offering me this appointment, I was honoured to be given this opportunity. Thank you also to my stewards for all their hard work keeping the show running as smoothly as possible, for which I was very grateful. There were some lovely dogs present but front movement and lack of correct length and angulation of the upper arm continues to be a problem in some exhibits as well as size and correct coat . We should not forget the first line in the breed standard “essentially a working terrier”.

Class Critique:

Two lovely balanced exhibits topped this class, both look capable of doing what they were bred for – a difficult decision to make!

Placing Critique:

racy, elegant, light grizzle with a lovely otter head, dark eyes with a keen expression. Narrow, straight front with good legs and neat feet; lovely neck into well laid shoulders, nice length of ribs giving a good underline and easily spanned; correct angulation front and rear. In short double coat (just enough to feel the texture of the topcoat) and a thick loose pelt. Excellent movement with a free, easy stride with good reach in front and super drive from the hindquarters, keeping a beautiful level topline. Pleased to award her the BCC (her 3rd I understand – congratulations).
