First Place in Open - Dog, Judge: Miss Elspeth Jackson (Clipstone)
Thanks to the National Terrier Club for their invitation to judge at this prestigious show and to the exhibitors who did me the honour of judging their dogs. I was lucky to have two efficient stewards who kept things running smoothly, thank you Laura and Dave.
The entry showed a good depth of quality. In many classes the places were hotly contested with decisions needing to be made on the narrowest of margins. I was very pleased to find that there were some good coats on thick pelts and the nice thick short tails which set off a good border so well.
What a super class of quality dogs in all the placings and beyond.
Balanced masculine dog of excellent type shown in tip top condition, well-muscled and in good double coat of correct texture on a thick pelt. He caught my eye going around and did not disappoint on the table. He is good for size with narrow ribs carried well back to a strong loin giving him a pleasing top line finished by a short thick tail well set on. Racy behind with good angulation. Moved soundly. In very tough competition, his super otter head just gave him the edge both in his class and in the challenge for BOB. DCC & BOB.
