Wigan and District Canine Society Open Show (14-01-2024)

First Place in Post Graduate, Judge: Siân McKay (Redesholt)

Show Critique:

My thanks go to the Committee of the Wigan and District Canine Society for the opportunity to judge today (we were kept well fed and watered!), and to my steward for her assistance in the ring. The show was very well attended and was therefore very busy and noisy. The Border ring was right next to an open door which unfortunately did appear to have a detrimental effect on a few exhibits, leading to some inconsistent and unsettled presentations. That aside, there were some lovely dogs to go over – no major faults to note, and all had very pleasing loose pelts. Coats, as to be expected, were in various stages of growth.

Placing Critique:

2-year-old grizzle and tan dog with masculine otter head correct in ratios, with a dark intelligent gaze, strong muzzle and big teeth. Straight front and good bone on catlike feet with thick pads. Narrow throughout with deep correct chest and ribs well back and of good length. Level topline was maintained on move which was efficient. Racy hindquarters- a balanced dog shown in a good dense harsh coat. RBoB.
