Second Place in Puppy -Bitch, Judge: Dr Margaret Armstrong (Ploughdown)
I’d like to offer my thanks to Carlisle and District Canine Society for asking me to judge Borders on the day and to the committee of the Border Terrier Club for proposing me for the appointment. It was a very bright, sunny day so being inside the arena gave the exhibitors and the exhibits some relief from the heat. Although generally Borders prefer the open air and often give of their best outside. I’d like to offer my appreciation to my steward on the day for his efficient and effective management of the classes; he was super. My thanks also go to the exhibitors who entered their dogs and were so pleasant and sporting in accepting my placings. My decisions were based on how I saw the dogs on the day and some decisions were very close.
9 month old grizzle bitch. Compact head with strong skull and short dark muzzle, set off by neat ears lying close to her cheek. Correct scissor bite. Good front angulation, having pleasing length of upper arm. Showing some length of body, she has rib of appropriate length and a strong loin. Good bend of stifle and easy to span. Moved soundly around the ring. Some depth of undercoat and pelt but very short in jacket today.
