First Place in Open - Dog, Judge: Mrs Sue Baxter (Mysulan/Sulan)
My thanks must go to the hard working committee for the kind invitation to judge
Border Terriers at this show. The welcome was warm and the hospitality on the day
was excellent.
There was a lovely entry and my gratitude goes to the exhibitors for their support ,also
the sporting manner in which my decisions were taken.
My general observations were as follows, bites mostly correct , males appeared intact ,
no tail kinks but what I did find was a few dogs quite broad chested and rather wide at
the front, rears were less of a problem .As breeders we must remember that
narrowness throughout is not only desired but needed if Borders are to be capable of
doing the job that they were bred for.
Lovely old gent ofsome 10 years … Wonderful jacket of harsh texture , wise old head with lovely expressive eyes . Still lots of pelt in evidence. Proper short “carroty tail” , all proportions were good and he moved well for a senior citizen . Really seemed to enjoy
his time in the spotlight .
