First Place in Open - Bitch, Judge: Mrs Jill Stevens (Cobstoneway)

Show Critique:

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge at this level for the first time, and also to my very efficient ring steward who kept things running smoothly. I had a lovely day and felt it was a great honour and responsibility. I really appreciated each and every entry, and had some lovely exhibits to go over, the depth of quality in some classes meaning that some nice dogs went cardless. Coats were understandably at different stages, and although this has no bearing on the construction of the dog, a good coat does complete the picture of what is essentially a working terrier.

Placing Critique:

This beautiful 2 year old grizzle and tan bitch caught my eye as she entered the ring. She is good for size, with just the right amount of bone, and is well proportioned and narrow throughout, having a lovely straight front. Her wonderful otter like head has very little stop, a short, strong muzzle, powerful jaw and big teeth in a scissor bite. She is lovely in shoulder and upper arm, has a good length of rib, and strong, well angulated hindquarters. Good topline and tailset, well muscled and turned out to perfection in tip top double coat of excellent texture. She looked a picture as she powered accurately around the ring, effortlessly and with reach and drive. She gave her all in a big terrier group later on. BCC and BOB.
