Guildford & District Canine Society Open Show (08-12-2019)

First Place in Puppy, Judge: Mrs Sandra Girling (Benattivo)

Show Critique:

My thanks firstly go to the Society for the kind invitation to judge this show and also to the exhibitors who trusted me with their lovely Border Terriers. All my class winners were of very good quality and were in super condition which was very pleasing. I did feel some of the exhibits perhaps weren’t so comfortable on the arena surface. Also some were not awfully animated which I felt may have been contributed to the cold weather as they seemed not to be very relaxed through the loin.

Placing Critique:

7 month old grizzle and tan male, with lots of lovely breed merits. He is a little immature in skull at the moment but had strength in his jaw and correct scissor bite. He really came into his own when he moved around the ring using his good construction to cover the ground at ease. I particularly liked his body lines and size which were narrow throughout and he was well ribbed back and easily spanned with correct tail set. His dark grizzle jacket was dense and harsh with a lovely thick loose pelt. I was pleased to award him Best Puppy In Breed and delighted to hear he went on to win the Terrier Puppy Group.
