First Place in Open, Judge: Mrs C E Sansom (Tarkaswell)
I would like to thank the Leek and District Show Society for inviting me to judge at their traditional agricultural show. Thanks also to my very efficient steward Sharon Bowers and to the exhibitors who gave me such a lovely entry and the honour of going over their dogs. Coats and pelts were generally good, but front movement was variable and I did find some exhibits with incorrect dentition.
This grizzle and tan dog had such an appealing head, with small, neat ears, dark eyes with a keen expression and a short, strong muzzle. Well constructed, he was narrow and easily spanned. His ribs were carried well back, to a strong loin level topline and well set tail. Moved out well. Presented in an excellent double coat with thick, loose pelt. Balanced and without exaggeration, I was pleased to award him RBOB, just preferring the overall body length and ground covering gait of my BOB.
