First Place in Open, Judge: Mrs Sue Baxter (Mysulan/Sulan)
My thanks go to the committee for their invitation to judge Borders and the hospitality received on the day , both were much appreciated. My steward Jean Walker helped keep things on track , thank you . I am grateful for the sporting way in which my decisions were accepted and thanks go to all the exhibitors who gave me entries and allowed me the pleasure of going over their dogs .
In general , one or 2 exhibits may have been carrying a little too much “condition” and benefit from perhaps a better work to calorie ratio. Feet were good and all dogs appeared to be intact .Bites all seemed correct at this stage and no sign of any kinked tails.
One I have judged before , he is a very active , dark grizzle dog , approaching 2 and a half years .Excellent harsh jacket and sufficient pelt. He stands over a fair piece of ground and is easily spannable. Narrow all through.. Well ribbed back and good lay of shoulder .Presents a nice picture stacked and on the move .. Certainly gives the impression of being able to follow a horse if required. Head and expression are good , along with topline and tail set. Pleased to award him Best of Breed .
