First Place in Open - Dog, Judge: Mrs Jill Stevens (Cobstoneway)
I would like to thank the committee for giving me the honour of judging at this lovely show, and for the hospitality shown on the day. Thank you also to my 2 very efficient stewards, Lesley and Judith, but most of all I would like to thank all the exhibitors who gave me such a lovely entry of quality dogs which were a pleasure to go over. I found no bad mouths, no kinked tails, and all the dogs were entire. Coats were at various stages, as to be expected, but none of the exhibits were without the correct double coat needed by a working terrier.
This grizzle and tan dog is a nice type, being narrow throughout with a good length of neck into nicely placed shoulders and a good head with strong jaws and scissor bite. He is spannable, ribbed well back, strong in the loin and has a good bend of stifle, moving with plenty of drive from his well muscled hindquarters. He holds his good topline and tailset well both standing and on the move, which is where he scored over 2nd.
