First Place in Open - Bitch, Judge: Debbie Lorraine (Raleniro)
The Terrier Club of Devon and Cornwall Open Show 15th October 2017 Border Terriers I would like to thank the society for inviting me to judge at this group open show, and for the warm welcome and the lovely hospitality shown to my husband and I on the day. I was delighted to be asked to judge in this part of the country and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in the area, topped off by having the opportunity to judge so many lovely dogs. Most of all I would like to thank the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to go over their dogs and the very friendly and sporting way in which they accepted my decisions. I was delighted with my entry, and had some lovely examples of the breed to judge. Thank you also to my steward who kept things running smoothly. I found no incorrect bites, all males were entire, and temperaments were excellent throughout. There were a couple of exhibits, who for me were up to size and a little difficult to span, but all dogs were shown in good, fit condition. I thoroughly enjoyed my day!
Almost 3 years old grizzle and tan bitch, one I have judged before and admired from outside the ring. Beautiful head, strong but feminine with the best of expressions and strong scissor bite. Just right for bone with a lovely straight front and tight, well padded feet. A nice size with good reach of neck and layback of shoulder. Spanned with ease with well shaped rib. A lovely, well balanced bitch who used her hind quarters to drive around the ring. Thick loose pelt with jacket of harsh texture that was just going past it’s best. Absolutely fit for purpose and another one that I would gladly take home. Pushed hard for best of breed but just could not see past the open dog on the day. A very well deserved Reserve BOB.
