The Terrier Club Of Scotland Open Show (16-10-2016)

First Place in Junior - Dog, Judge: Mrs Tina Jones (Otterholme)

Show Critique:

My sincere thanks to the committee for the invite to judge at this well run and welcoming show and to my efficient steward who kept things flowing allowing me to focus on the task in hand. Lastly and most importantly the exhibitors, for your entry and sporting manner that my decisions were accepted.
I am always mindful when judging the breed, that it is essentially a working terrier so therefore I am looking for a terrier that is fit for function. Some I struggled to span, which had a bearing on my placings. Pleasing to find the majority had ample pelts, but on the flip side some lacked for me enough undercoat to afford protection, if they were in the working arena.

Placing Critique:

Very much appealed for type and balance, exciting to go over. Quite mature looking for his 10 months. He has the most exquisite head. ‘moderate’ and flat, not over exaggerated or excessive in any way, all in proportion, good ear placement, keen dark eye. Lovely flowing muscular neck, superb length of rib, strong loin. Presented in hard fit condition more than capable of a hard day’s work. Considered for best dog, but on the day not so positive in movement, fore and aft, but he has time on his side, be interested to see him move on a different surface. One I will watch with interest.
